Let's get one thing straight right off the bat: these trips don't just 'happen' on their own. Over the years, we have had to gather together from all over North America. The sheer logistics of such an endeavor are mind boggling. Just getting everyone together at the launch point in Calgary is difficult. Then we have to prep the boats and vehicles and load our cargo before saddling up for the long trip through the Rockies. This year, two disabled vehicles and rampant wildfires throughout BC were just a couple of the events conspiring to keep us from destiny. We've been doing this for 20 years now, and we have it down to a science. We can't be stopped. We won't be denied.

Here we see Kurt and Troy checking out the Truck. What's the rigging and sleeping bag for? Excellent question. Necessary safety precautions to hold Kurt in the back of the truck while we drive at high speeds through winding mountain passes, of course (you think I'm kidding, but I'm not). It'll be dark, and believe me, we won't be stopping just to check and see if Kurt is still on board or not. We've got a schedule to keep! Yes, he may also freeze in the night, but that is a chance we are willing to take. Nothing in life is without risk.
